Milega Records & The Cure collective are happy to announce a new collaborate compilation V/A Yūgen (幽玄) Yūgen is an important concept in traditional Japanese aesthetics. It can be described as a unique awareness, a mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe. This album is inspired by the healing powers of art & music. All profits from the compilation will be divided equally between the artists. "To watch the sun sink behind a flower clad hill. To wander on in a huge forest without thought of return. To stand upon the shore and gaze after a boat that disappears behind distant islands. To contemplate the flight of wild geese seen and lost among the clouds. While they speak of the "forest" in the album's press writeup, the sound says that this more in the wheelhouse of "Phospherescent"-era TIP recordings. I think of it as a compliment. Melodic and at the start of going weird, but not fully giving over to studio tomfoolery. I'm also a fan of this being more or less several EPs, even if some of the tracks are collaborations. Plus - the cover art is pretty bonkers, isn't it?
